Abstract
804,822. Brake transmission gears. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET BROMSREGULATOR. Sept. 7, 1956, No. 27482/56. Class 103 (1). In an automatic brake slack adjuster of the kind described in Specification 421,759, in the release position of the brake a projection 45 on the mechanism casing 19 is in contact with the side 44a of a respective recess 44 whereby in all possible angular positions of the ring 43 and its thread 24 in relation to the thread 23 on the extension sleeve 9, the axial distance between the projections 45 and the portions of the bottom of the respective recesses 44 facing the projections 45 is greater than the axial distance between the coacting faces 9a and 12a of the extension sleeve 9 and the retaining ring 12 respectively with the slack adjuster in the condition, should a shock or the like create a pulling force in the brake rod formed by the slack adjuster, nothing will occur other than that the spring 49 may yield to the force and thus permit the projections 45 to move further into the recesses 44 without reaching the bottom thereof so that the faces 12a and 9a of the retaining ring 12 and the extension sleeve 9 respectively, will abut one another to prevent unintentional rotation of the rotatable parts 11, 12, 13 and 14 of the slack adjuster under the action of the shock. The construction contrasts with the prior art wherein the means for locking against unintentional increases of slack due to shocks are associated with the actuating means and thus rendered more complicated.
