Abstract
804,528. Pressure exchangers. SPALDING, D. B. Feb. 22, 1957 [Feb. 24, 1956], No. 5914/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 8(1). The cell ring of a pressure exchanger is cooled by fluid flowing in ducts in the cell walls. The fluid in the ducts may circulate to and from the exterior of the exchanger or the ducts may be closed and contain a primary fluid in heat exchange with secondary fluid flowing to and from the exterior. The cooling fluid may be tapped from a suitable point in the exchanger cycle. Alternatively or in addition the cell ring and outer casing may be provided with cooling fins. The working fluid ducts may be assymetrically arranged so that the cells contain cool fluid for a longer period than hot fluid. The cell walls may be of a porous nature so that cooling fluid can percolate through them.
