Abstract
800,967. Slab wall connections. HOLLANDSE BOUWCOMBINATIE (HOLLAND BUILDING CORPORATION) N.V. Sept. 26, 1956 [Oct. 1, 1955], No. 29417/56. Class 20(4) Each of two parallel preferably L-shaped members 3 enclosing a rectangular space, for connecting adjacent wall slabs 1, has a projection 5 or 5a and a recess 6 or 6a in the enclosed space opposite a corresponding recess and projection respectively so that when a bolt 8 passing through a hole 7 and through a hole in the projection 5 is screwed into a threaded hole 9 in the projection 5a, the projections are forced into contact with the walls of the recesses. The slabs may be of wood fibre, asbestos, cement, &c. and each is engaged by one flange of a member 3 through a bitumen filler layer 2. A strip 4 welded to the flange provides a T-section. The projection 5, 5a are welded or screwed to the members 3 and may be provided with bifurcated stems 11 embedded in and bonded to the slab 1 so as to improve the connection. The recesses 6, 6a are located so that the projections engage as shown when the slabs are correctly positioned. The slabs may be faced on one or both sides with plates 12. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the slabs are disposed at right angles to one another and a hollow square section iron is provided with projections and recesses on two adjacent faces to co-operate with members 3 as above. and an angle iron may be welded to the hollow square section if facing plates are used. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the members are used in a slab wall having a partition at right angles thereto, and a hollow square section as above has projections and recesses on three sides thereof.
