Abstract

794,338. Cable-ends. LODGE PLUGS, Ltd. May 10, 1956 [Nov. 4, 1955], No. 31530/55. Class 36. A sleeved plug for sealing the end of a mineral insulated metal sheathed cable comprises a metal sleeve 23 adapted to fit over the end of the cable sheath and containing two ceramic insulators 17 and 18 with a seal 15 of glass or the like material between them. The ceramic insulators have tapered ends remote from the glass seal and contain a metal sleeve 22 to fit over the cable conductor 10. The metal sheath 11 of the cable is soldered, brazed or welded to one end 25 of the metal sleeve which is adapted to receive it, and the core is similarly joined to the inner metal sleeve 22. The Specification describes a method of forming the seal and indicates suitable materials for cable and seal. Specification 794,337 is reforred to.
