A termination for an oil-filled cable having a central oil-duct 4 in the conductor 2 comprises a rigid insulating tube 30 closed by a metal cap 33 at its upper end through which a terminal member 6 projects, and a connector 7 connected to the conductor 2 and the terminal 6 by one or more flexible conductors 8, the connector supporting one end of a rigid tube 23 which communicates with duct 4 and slidably enters a bore 25 in terminal 6, which bore extends upwards through the terminal and communicates with the interior of tube 30. The wires of the conductor are clamped between a plug 9 and sleeve 11 on to which the connector 7 is screwed, and the exposed parts of the conductor are enclosed in an oil-resisting tape 60. The tube 23 may be screwed into the connector 7 and the threads closed by brazing material 24. The bore 25 of the terminal communicates with the space 45 within the cap 33 through passages 44. To fill the termination with oil, a metal tube 46 is inserted in the terminal 6 so that apertures 47 therein communicate with the bore 25. The lower end of tube 46 comprises a solid plug 48 carrying a sealing ring 49 which seals the end of tube 23. A plug 53 integral with a pipe 54 is inserted in the upper end of terminal 6 and held by a threaded sleeve 55. Oil is fed through pipe 54 to fill the spaces 43, 45 within the termination, after which the pipe 54 and tube 46 are removed and the upper end 26 of the terminal bore is closed by means of a nipple which is held in position by a nut.
