793,804. Preparing fibres for spinning. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J. June 8. 1956 [June 22, 1955], No. 17792/55. Class 120(1) A hackling machine for long staple fibres has a lantern roller 1 turned by engagement with successive rows of hackle pins 6, the bars 2 of which press down the fibres on to the pins 6, the bearings 5 at the ends of the roller being arranged to move together, preferably by being mounted in arms 11 rigidly secured to a rocker shaft mounted in bearings 14, so that the axis of the roller 1 remains substantially parallel to the hackle bars 7. According to the Provisional Specification the arms 11 may be spring-controlled to augment the weight of the roller 1 pressing on the fibres 8. Specification 669,323 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
