Abstract
793,794. Clamp fastenings. NEW CLEAR Ltd. Jan. 18, 1956 [Feb. 28. 1955], No. 5826/55. Class 44 [Also in Groups XIX and XXIII] A retort clamp comprises a hollow cylindrical body 1 formed at one end with a bifurcated jaw member 2 adapted to co-operate with a second j aw member 6 forend at one end of a rod 5 slidably mounted in the cylindrical body, the other end 7 of the rod being externally threaded and protruding from the end of the body remote from the jaw member and which end is adapted to form an abutment 8 for a nut 9 threadably engaging the projecting end of the rod. The jaw member 6 is inclined towards the jaw member 2 so that a retort gripped between the jaw members is pressed towards the rod 5. The rod and body carry auxiliary jaw members 10 opposite the jaw members 2 and 6. The jaw member 2 has a rubber or like sleeve on each arm. Rotation of the rod 5 in the body is prevented by a flat 11 on the rod which co-operates with a flat on the body. The flat 11 carries measuring markings 13.
