793,358. Resilient joints. LUBREPA LUXEMBOURGOISE DE BREVETS ET DE PARTICIPATIONS. July 14, 1954 [July 22, 1953], No. 20610/54. Class 108(3) [Also in Group XXIV] A system for resiliently interconnecting two-bodies 1, 2 comprises a ring-like frame 15 interconnecting two rod-like elements 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, associated respectively with the bodies 1, 2 and each projecting into the central region of the frame 15 to which their axes are transversely disposed, and, outside an intermediate zone separating the two elements 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, elastic means 14 operating continuously under compression disposed between at least one of the elements 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, and the frame 15. In Fig. 3, load is transmitted resiliently between members 1, 2 by ball joint 13, spring 14, rigid link 15, spring 14<SP>1</SP> and ball joint 13<SP>1</SP>. In Fig. 4, the coiled springs are replaced by rubber bodies 14a, 14b, and the ball joints by plain journal bearings. A cushioning member may be interposed at 17 between the bodies 14a, 14b. The invention is applicable to mountings for engines of motor vehicles (see Group XXXI), and to torque-transmitting couplings and universal joints (see Group XXIV).
