Class 52(2) In a bed-sofa comprising a bed-frame pivoted at 26 to a sofa-frame and consisting of sections 14-17 pivoted end to end. the bed-frame is folded and unfolded by power means e.g. hydraulic cylinders. As shown, to fold the bed-frame from the position of Fig. 1 to that of Fig. 2, a motordriven pump supplies fluid to a manifold 76, from which pressure is transmitted through pipe 80 to the base of a cylinder 60 pivoted to inner intermediate section 16 and provided with a piston rod 63 pivoted to outer section 14. Resulting projection of the rod 63 causes sections 14, 15 to move to the position of Fig. 2, legs 42 being retracted automatically and a pin 47 carried by levers 48, 49 being moved adjacent a notch 55 in a bell-crank 31. Thereafter, pressure fluid is supplied from manifold 76 through pipe 81 to the base of a cylinder 66 to extend the piston rod 69. This swings a link 71 which rotates a lever 27 to move the parts into the position of Fig. 3, the bell crank 31 being rotated anti-clockwise to retract further legs 39 by links 37 and to cause notch 55 to take over pin 47 to hold the frame in folded position. To unfold the bed-frame, pump 72 supplies pressure fluid to manifold 83 from which it flows to the outer ends of cylinders 60, 66 through pipes 87, 85. Because pin 47 is engaged in notch 55, cylinder 66 will be actuated first to move the parts to the position of Fig. 2 and then cylinder 60 will be actuated to establish the article in bed-forming position.
