[Class 52 (ii)] In bed settees of the kind comprising a sectionally hinged wire or spring mattress unit foldable beneath the seat in the settee position and extendible into horizontal position on the bed position foldable legs are pivotally mounted on the mattress unit and are located inwardly of the sides of the seat into a recess or recesses of which the legs are arranged to fold. The mattress unit comprises sections 1 ... 4 the section 1 being pivoted on a bracket 5 on the frame 6. The seat 7 is connected to the settee frame by levers and links pivoted to the brackets 8 the levers 10, 11 being crossed and pivotally connected together. One end of the lever 10 is pivoted to the bracket 8 while one end of lever 11 is linked by link 14 to the bracket 8. The other ends of the levers 10, 11 are pivotally connected to brackets 13 on the seat frame by link 12 in the case of levers 10 and directly in the case of levers 11. The legs 16, connected together by a bracing rod 18, are pivoted to brackets 17 and are connected by bent links 19 to brackets 20 secured in the recess of the seat framing 7a the brackets 20 being laterally offset and also forming an anchorage for the link 21 connecting the seat 7 with the mattress section 4. In folding the legs 16 enter the recess of the seat framing 7a. The back and head board 22 is carried by parallel links 24, 25 and linked to the mattress section 1 by link 26 so that it is moved out of the way when the bed settee is extended to form a bed but is moved .into position when the bed settee is folded to form a settee.
