Abstract

790,792. Printing machines. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. June 14, 1955, No. 17058/55. Class 100(2) Cylinder machines. A two-revolution printing press, in which the reciprocating type-bed as well as the rotating impression cylinder are driven from the driving shaft by means of gearing, comprises a damping device for eliminating vibration, consisting of two co-axial gear wheels which are movable in relation to one another against the action of a spring and are as a wheel unit an integral part of the gearing. Meshing gear wheels 1, 2, Fig. 1, are mounted one fast on the driving shaft and one fast on the impression cylinder shaft, while a third gear wheel is mounted co-axially and in contact with the wheel 2. A rod 6, Figs. 1 and 3, is attached to a ballshaped foot 7 arranged in a corresponding recess in said third wheel, and the other end of the rod 6 is slidable in a bore in a pivot 10 attached to the wheel 2. A spring 5 surrounding the rod 6 is supported by collars 8, one of which is slidable on the rod. The length and tension of the spring is adjustable by a device 9, consisting of a washer exchangeable for a thicker or thinner one.
