Abstract
783,583. Lift trucks. YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 26, 1955, No. 30594/55. Class 78 (3). In a masted lift truck the ram cylinder 22 extends through a hole 26 in a plate 25 (Fig. 6), and is supported solely by a ring 27 which is secured to the cylinder and which seats on the upper surface of plate 25. This plate is rigidly attached to the fixed guide channels 11 by plates 17, 24 and brackets 28. The lifting chains 29 are anchored to a ring 30 (Fig. 4), secured to the upper end of the cylinder, and to stub shafts 34b on which are mounted the lower rollers 16 of the lifting carriage (not shown). A cross-head 37 secured to the ram piston-rod 23 carries sprockets 43 co-operating with chains 29, and is also provided with a pin 47 which engages a slot 46 in a plate 20 connecting the movable guide channels 12 and so provides a lost-motion coupling between the piston-rod and the movable guides. All the plates which interconnect the pairs of guide channels are located at the rear of the channels to facilitate insertion and removal of the ram.
