Abstract

782,381. Regulating pumps. A.C.E. MACHINERY, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1956 [Feb. 9, 1955], No. 3907/55. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXX] The throttle 17 of an I.C. engine 4 driving a pump 6 is controlled by a pressure in the output circuit of the pump. The pump is shown supplying oil through a valve 13 and a throttle 18 to a motor 7 driving a platform hoist (see Group XXX). The back pressure causes a ram 15 to open the throttle 17 and a ram 14 to release a brake 16. When the valve 13 is turned through 90 degrees anti-clockwise from the position shown the motor 7 is connected to pump liquid back to the reservoir 5, and the pump 6 is connected to a back pressure valve 19 which sets up a back pressure sufficient to release the brake 16 but not to open the throttle 17. In the intermediate position of the valve 13 the motor 7 is isolated and the pump 6 connected directly to the reservoir 5 so that the throttle 17 is closed and the brake 16 applied. The rotary valve 13 may be replaced by a piston valve controlled by a cam. Relief valves 26, 17 are provided.
