Nov. 29, 1955 [Dec. 15, 1954], No. 36346/54 Class 44 A clamping device for securing glass or other. shelves, panels or the like to supports or to one another comprises two bifurcated members 1 2 provided with clamping means, one member 1 having a strip or rail 8 formed on it and extending beyond one face, against which face either of two faces of the other member 2 can be selectively abutted, and the two members secured together by a screw (not shown) passing through the abutting faces, the strip or rail then preventing any relative rotation. Each member consisting of two parallel rectangular parts 3, 4 spaced apart and formed integrally with a square portion 5 at one end. The rectangular part 3 of each member has a screw threaded hole for receiving a clamping screw 9 by which it can be clamped to a support, shelf or the like inserted between the parts 3 and 4. The part 4 and end portion 5 of the member 1 have screw threaded holes 11 and 12 respectively for receiving the connecting screw. The end portion 5 of the member 2 has a counter-sunk plain hole for the connecting screw and the strip or rail 8 extends beyond its square end face. The member 2 can be connected to the member 1 either with their end faces abutting in any one of four positions or the end face of the member 2 can be connected to the outer face of the rectangular portion 4 of the member 1 in any of three different positions. The connecting screw always passes through the plain hole in the member 2 to engage the hole 11 or the hole 12 in the member 1.
