Abstract

780,013. Printing-machines. STRACHAN & HENSHAW, Ltd. Aug. 5, 1954 [Aug. 7. 1953], No. 21942/53. Class 100(2) Inking-apparatus. - Ink supplied to a :feed roll 11, e.g. by spraying, by fountain roll, or as shown from a trough 12 in which it is partly immersed, is carried in depressions 14, e.g. of the order of 0.0001 to 0.005 in, excess being skived off by a doctor blade 15 mounted at an acute angle (adjustable about a pivot 35 by bolt-and-slot means 36, 37) on one or more pivoted arms 16 .urged towards the roll 11 by pressure of a spring 26 limited by a stop nut 24. Blade wear may be taken up by advancement of the clamp plates 30, 31 by a screw 33 after slackening studs 32. The roll may make direct contact with the printing cylinder of a rotary printing machine, or one or.more intermediate rolls may be provided. Specifications 27637/07, 277,320 [both in Class 100] and 383,135 are referred to.
