Classes 20(4) and 87(1) In a building block formed with vertical apertures a, the outer walls b, c are reduced in thickness at their upper and lower ends to form bearing surfaces d surrounding frogs which communicate with the apertures a. Ribs and channels g are provided on the ends of the block and the edges of the block are formed with undercut pointing grooves h. The blocks of lightweight concrete are laid in vertical alignment and not in bond when forming a wall and are then filled with concrete.
