Abstract
775,637. Clamps. DAWES, G. W. Dec. 9, 1955, No. 35470/55. Class 44. A fastener for securing a pair of members together comprises a web 1, Fig. 1, having flanges 2, 3 extending from the web 1 in opposite directions, the flange 2 being provided with an outwardly projecting tongue 6 and with means 7 whereby the flange 2 may be clamped to one member, the tongue and web extending in opposite directions from the flange 2 and the tongue 6 having a width substantially less than that of the web and the flanges. As shown in Fig. 3, a back panel 11, having an elongated slot 12, is secured to a fillet 10 depending from the top wall 9 of a cabinet 8 (e.g. a radio cabinet) by means of the fastener flange 3 engaging the side 16 of the fillet and the tongue 6 engaging in the slot. The fastener is clamped in position by a screw 13 passing through the slot 12 and engaging in a tapped hole 7 in the flange 2. The tongue 6 has sliding fit in the slot 12 and head 14 of the screw engages a washer 15 which extends to either side of the slot to engage the panel 11.
