Abstract
775,518. Feeding sealing rings. OWENSILLINOIS GLASS CO. June 3, 1955 [Dec. 7, 1954], No. 15932/55. Class 78 (1). Apparatus for feeding rubber rings includes a rotary hopper 10 for orientating them, a reservoir 12 for supplying the rings to said hopper, a supply bin 17 supplying the rings to said reservoir and having a motor-driven means 23 for opening the bin valve 20, and a motorcontrol means whereby movable support 35 inside the reservoir operates the motor to control the means 23 to maintain a predetermined weight of rings in reservoir 12. As shown, the rings in bin 17 are fed into reservoir 12 by drum 23, the latter depressing the pivoted valve 20 and propelling the rings down into the reservoir below, where they rest on counter-weighted support 35 and are discharged therefrom by rotary hopper 10 into shoot 11. When the weight of the rings exceeds a predetermined value, the support 35 moves to actuate a switch 44 to stop motor driving drum 23. Similarly the motor is engaged if the weight of rings is too small.
