Abstract

1,074,134. Feeding fibres. TEMAFA TEXTILMASCHINENFABRIK MEISSNER, MORGNER & CO. G.m.b.H. Dec. 18, 1963 [Dec. 18, 1962], No. 50071/63. Heading D1N. Hopper feeders of carding machines are maintained charged at a desired level by a device comprising a storage container 9 and delivery mechanism that includes a feed roller 22 suspended to move to-and-fro in association with a rear wall 35. The rear wall 35 is pivoted at 36 and connected by an arm to the shaft of roller 22 which serves to feed fibres into the storage chambers 2 in conjunction with a feed roller 20. In the chamber 2 may be a float member, photocell or other control member for a motor 26 driving the rollers 20, 22 and operative in dependence on the level of fibres in the chamber 2. At complete emptying of the housing 10, the roller 22 closes the passage between the roller 20 and itself. Rocking flaps 16 in the storage container 9 co-operate with electric switches to signal by optical or audible means when maximum or minimum filling levels are reached. The delivery mechanism may be moved away from the storage container should the hopper feeder be moved.
