Abstract
698,513. Automatic weight control systems. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. June 12, 1952 [Julv 4, 1951], No. 15811/51. Class 38 (iv). [Also in Group XVIII] Articles, e.g. sweets are fed to a wrapping machine by an intermediate vibratory platform 14 fed from a main feed hopper 12 and balanced about a pivot 19 against the action of a spring 27 so as to be tiltable under the weight of the feed to operate a micro switch 26 or rheostat retroactively controlling the average rate of feed by the main feed hopper 12 so as to render the rate of feed by the weigh platform 14 constant. The rate of feed by the hopper 12, operated e.g. also be an electromagnetic vibrator 36, is made slightly in excess of that required by the wrapping machine and the switch 26 or rheostat operates by occasionally stopping or by reducing the amplitude of vibration of the hopper 12. The forward slope of the platform 14 is limited by an adjustable abutment 23 and the spring 27 is made adjustable to varv the value of the constant rate of feed. The articles are fed into individual pockets of a rotary feed wheel 18 of the wrapping machine. A rotary brush 31 sweeps off any surplus articles into a container 34.
