Abstract
773,328. Shower baths. USINES LAUFFER FRERES SOC. P.R.L. May 1, 1953 [May 6, 1952], No. 12082/53. Class 26. [Also in Groups XIII and XXIX] In a system for producing a liquid of desired temperature, e.g. hot water for shower baths, a cold liquid from a pipe 4 is directed by a distributing valve 3 partly to a mixing chamber 7 and partly to a heater 1 from which it flows to the mixing chamber 7 after influencing a temperature-responsive element 10 regulating the valve 3 in such a way that the proportions of the two streams of liquid delivered to the mixing chamber give a mixture of constant temperature. The valve 3 comprises a cylinder having two outlet ports b, c, and a piston 9 having two rectangular ports b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP>. The ports b, c are so shaped that those parts open to the rectangular ports b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP> have areas proportional to the required rates of flow for the corresponding temperature of the heated water. The temperature responsive element is adjustable. In a modification, Figs. 8 and 9, the valve comprises a cylindrical chamber 16 divided by a partition 17 into two chambers 16a, 16b, one containing the temperature-responsive element 19 and the other containing two valve bodies 20a, 20b connected to the element 19 by a rod 18.
