Class 86 [Also in Groups XI, XXVIII and XXIX] In an apparatus for obtaining a mixture of air and fuel-gas, of constant composition, air 'is supplied from a pipe 2 to a convergent nozzle 5 having co-axial cylindrical pipe extension 6 and thence to a divergent nozzle 9, whereas fuel-gas is supplied by a pipe 3 to a chamber 8 surrounding the nozzle 5 from whence it passes through a truncated conical pipe 7 surrounding and coaxial with the pipe 6, to the nozzle 9. The invention is characterized in that the chamber 8 is maintained at the same pressure as the mixture in a chamber 10, connected to a gas-burner or burners, by means of a pressure regulator 11, connected to the chamber 10 by a pipe 12 and controlling a pressurereducer 13 in the pipe 3, whereby the speeds of the air and gas entering the nozzle 9 are the same and the fluid streams are substantially parallel and mixing only takes place in the chamber 10. The nozzle 5 is axially adjustable, by means af a coupling 4 securable in position by screws 14 passing through holes 15 in the pipe 2. whereby the cross-sectional area' of the gas passage surrounding the pipe 6 may be accurately set. A pipe 16 having a throttle 17 is connected between the pipe 2 and the pipe 12, the throttle being adjustable to prevent any explosive mixture forming in the regulator 11, above its diaphragm 18. In a modification the coupling 4 is screw-connected in the pipe 2.
