A refrigerator cold plate comprises a coil 5 enclosed within the body of a hollow gas tight plate, and having refrigerant inlet and outlet fittings 6 and 7 respectively with an alternative fitting 6a connected by a tubular passage 6c to one of. said fittings, preferably the inlet fitting 6, together with means for closing either of the two inlet fittings 6 or 6a. The fittings 6 are used when the plates are used in series and on end, while fittings 6a are used when the plates are laid sideways.
