Abstract

770,702. Wet presses of paper-making machines. DOMINION ENGINEERING WORKS, Ltd. Dec. 31, 1954, No. 37850/54. Class 96. A newsprint web on the wire-cloth 1 of a Fourdrinier paper-making machine is couched on to the underside of a felt 2, with the aid of a suction pick-up roll 20 and carried through a wet process comprising an upper suction roll 10, a lower roll 11 of granite, and a back-up roll 12, the web then passing to the next wet press &c. Pressure is applied mechanically, hydraulically, or pneumatically at 17, the rolls 10, 11 being adjustably mounted on pivoted arms 13, 18 respectively.
