Abstract
770,663. Proving rings for testing machines. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 4, 1955 [May 4, 1954], No. 12969/54. Class 106 (2). A proving ring 1, Fig. 1, is provided with a micrometer 2 and an indicator 3 which indicates whether the ring has been deflected to the extent for which the micrometer is set. The indicator comprises a plunger 11, Fig. 2, whose inner end contacts an axial push rod 14 having a compression spring 15, the plunger having a transverse hole 18, on a flat surface 19 of which is located a hardened steel ball 21 carried by the short arm 22 of a crank pivoted by steel strips 23, whose long arm is coupled at its distant end by a steel strip 27 to the short arm 28 of another lever whose long arm 29 extends back towards the plunger and terminates in a pointer 4 visible in a window 31. A spring 24 maintains the ball 21 in contact with the flat surface 19.
