Abstract
770,305. Pit props. MACCARTHY, C. P. April 27, 1955 [April 28, 1954], No. 12259/54. Class 20(2) The two parts a, b of a telescopic pit prop are clamped together by a rubber &c. member f carried by the inner member a on a rod d between a disc e and the end disc c of the member a and adapted to be expanded against the outer member b. The member f is expanded by moving the disc e towards the disc c by the rod d and an eccentric j<SP>1</SP>. The member f may be hollow and expanded by fluid compressed by a central plunger in the rod d Fig. 4 (not shown). A wedge m is used to set the prop.
