Abstract

784,217. Setting devices for pit props. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS), Ltd. April 13, 1955 [Jan. 13, 1954], No. 1007/54. Class 20(2) A setting device for pit props comprises a cylinder 1 and fluid-pressure operated piston 3 -on a rod 4, and distance pieces which can be connected by clamps 20 at one end to the cylinder 1 and by spring clips 21 at the other end to a prop 22 already erected, to determine the spacing of the props. The piston rod 4 carries a bifurcated yoke 5 which engages beneath and raises the head 7 of a telescopic prop 8 when fluid under pressure is admitted to the cylinder. The distance pieces are preferably telescopic, the inner and outer tubes 17, 15 respectively being held in adjustmerit by clamps 18.
