Abstract

767,173. Automate speed control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 28, 1953 [Oct. 1, 1953], No. 24598/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). In an automatic speed control system such as that described in Specifications 767,171 and 767,172, a D.C. motor is fed through a gridcontrolled rectifier, controlled by a demodulator and frequency-responsive network fed from a tacho-alternator. According to the present invention, this prior system is used as a coarse speed control, and in addition the speed is normally locked to a reference frequency which is injected into the circuit, either in series with the output of the frequency-responsive network or by a further winding on the demodulator transformer (Fig. 3, not shown).
