767,123. Road spraying machines. NORTH THAMES GAS BOARD. June 16, 1955 [March 16, 1954], No. 7670/54. Class 107 A road spraying machine with a transverse spray bar has the spray nozzles arranged with cutoff plates which are moved into position when one or more outer jets are cut off, so that the carpet laid always has straight and uniform edges whatever its width. The outer nozzle 11 has a cut-off plate 27 bolted in position and each intermediate nozzle 12 has a pivoted plate 41 actuated by a cross-bar 54 having a hole 58 bv which it is linked (72) for operation to an adjacent member 64 connected to the valve spindle 19. When the outer valves are closed to decrease the width of the carpet the appropriate cut-off plates swing into position. By linking hole 59 to the member 65 the spray bar can be cut off from the other end. Each valve is controlled in known way by a sliding bar 80 and may be detached therefrom if required inoperative.
