Abstract

1,017,179. Tar spraying. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Aug. 24, 1964 [Sept. 26, 1963], No. 38040/63. Heading E1G. A tar, or the like, spraying machine has a fixed spraybar 11 substantially the width of the machine and one or more extension spraybars 16, movable from within the width of the vehicle to outwardly thereof, material dispensed from the extension within the width of the machine being collected in a catch trough 28. The extension 16 slides laterally on guide bar 21 under the control of a chain 22 or an hydraulic ram, the jets 14 of the fixed bar and 27 of the extension being slightly inclined to align the spray pattern on the road surface. Cams within each spraybar, operated conjointly by linkwork 13 and 24 from a lever 26, open and close all jets simultaneously. The catch trough 28, rigid with the fixed assembly, is connected by a pipe 29 with a pump to return excess material to the main supply. A canopy 15 encloses the fixed jets and a sliding canopy 18 moves with the extension spraybar.
