Abstract

766,712. Clothes drying apparatus. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. Aug. 9, 1954 [April 20, 1954], No. 23067/54. Class 34(2) A tumbler clothes drier has an imperforate drum B open at one end for the insertion and removal of clothes and closed at the other end by an offset wall 68 projecting into the shell 60 of the drum and defining a cavity 69 which accommodates parts of a fan assembly C, the wall 68 having axially extending, spirally curved segmental baffle portions 70, 71, 72 which together with shell 60 form air scoops 70a, 71a, 72a so that rotation of the drum causes air, sucked from outside by the fan C and heated by heater F to enter the drum via the scoops. A timer mechanism and selector switch J allows drying with or without heat and with or without rotation of the drum. Lint is removed by trap G comprising a box-like structure with a removable lint trap 279 consisting of a rectangular metal frame fitted with a screen and accessible through a door 37.
