759,333. Infusing machines. BAMBI G., and BAMBI, B. Sept. 24, 1954 [Nov. 14, 1953], No. 27687/54. Class 129. An. expeller unit, for the intermittent delivery of hot liquids, e.g. coffee, from a machine with a boiler, has a cavity connected to the boiler so that steam from the latter enters the cavity, condenses and then flows back to the boiler thus heating the cavity. A support 4 formed on the body of the boiler 1 carries an arm 3 which supports an expelled unit 2 comprising a cylindrical cavity 5 containing a jacket 11 within which an expulsion piston 7 reciprocates. Piston 7 is carried on a connecting rod 6 which extends through a cap 9 closing the upper end of cavity 5 and a compression spring 8 encircles rod 6 between piston 7 and cap 9. Rod 6 is connected to control means 10 manually or otherwise actuated by a lever 10a. Jacket 11 is held in position by a block 12 which, with two sealing rings maintains a fluid-tight connection between the arm 3, itself and the jacket 11 an annular space 13 being formed between jacket 11 and cavity 5. A tube 14 is connected at one end to space 13 and at its other end through arm 3 to a tube 14a which extends below the level of the liquid in boiler 1. When piston 7 is raised by lever 10a, an annular groove 16 in piston 7 is brought into line with apertures 15 extending through jacket 11 so that liquid is forced, by the steam pressure in boiler 1, through pipes 14a, 14, space 13 and apertures 15 into the groove 16 from which it passes through piston 7 into a cup or filter from which the beverage is expelled on lowering piston 7. Inclined passages 22, 23 connect the space above the liquid in the boiler with the cavity 5 so that steam passes through passage 22 into the cavity and condenses running back into boiler 1 through passage 23.
