758,759. Stabilizing silver images produced by the silver salt diffusion process. AGFA AKT.- GES. FUR PHOTOFABRIKATION. March 22, 1954 [March 24, 1953], No. 8319/54. Class 98(2). Photographic silver images produced in a reception layer by the silver salt diffusion process are stabilized by treatment, after production, with organic substances containing SH and/or NH groups, e.g. benztriazole, 6-nitrobenzimidazole, 4 - phenyl - 2 - mercapto - 1: 3: 4- triazole, 2-mercaptobenzthiazole, 4-phenyl-3- mercaptotetrazole, 2 - mercaptobenzoxazole, 1: 4-diphenylthiosemicarbazide, 4-oxo-3-thio-2- N-phenyl-1: 2-dihydroquinazoline, and 5-imino- 2 - mercapto 1: 3: 4- thiothiazoline. The compounds or their salts can be used in aqueous or organic solvent solutions. In examples, solutions specified are an aqueous solution of the sodium salt of 2-mercaptobenzthiazole,a solution of 4-phenyl-2-mercapto-1: 3: 4-triazole in dilute ammonia, and an ethyl alcohol-water solution of the sodium salt of 4-phenyl-2- mercapto-1: 3 : 4-triazole.
