Abstract

757,443. Combined body and chassis. JAGUAR CARS, Ltd., and HEYNES, W. M. May 17, 1955 [May 5, 1954], No. 13061/54. Class 108 (1). The driving compartment (Fig. 1) of a vehicle comprises a transverse member 15 secured to two longitudinal members 16 all of closed box section. The rear ends of the members 16 are connected by transverse members 18 to which the seat rests 18a are secured. The compartment 10 is secured on to the longitudinals 11, 12 of the forward chassis 13 (Fig. 2) which has further longitudinals 20, 21 and transverse members 22, 23 suitably braced by uprights and diagonals. Oblique members 25, 27 are welded to members 20, 21 and 23, and 11 and 12 are secured at their rear ends at 28a to the forward side of member 15. The rear chassis 42 (Fig. 5), has longitudinals 43, 44 secured to brackets 41 attached to the rear of the transverse members 18, and braced by transverse members 45, 46, and by struts 47.
