Abstract
757,438. Locks. REMPLOY, Ltd. April 27, 1955 [March 8, 1954], No. 6709/54. Class 44. Relates to a night latch consisting of a bolt 2 in a case 4 to be fixed with a rim 9 against the inner face of a door, a cylinder lock 10 to be housed in the thickness of the door and having an operating connection with the bolt, and a plate 18 to be placed against the inner face of the door to receive screws 16 securing the body of the lock. According to the invention, the plate is of such a size that some or all of the edges thereof fit closely within the rim 9 of the case 4 so that when the latch is in position any torque applied to the body of the lock 10 and transmitted by the screws 16 to the plate, is resisted by the bolt case 4. As shown, the plate 18 is formed with a dished part 20 to accommodate the heads of the screws 16. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), all four edges of the plate fit closely, the rim of the case, the corners being out away to clear the fixing screws for the case.
