Class 52(1) [Also in Group XXV] For mounting a fastening in an unframed glass door 6 in the free edge of which is a recess 5 for receiving the body 7 of the fastening, the recess having a pair of inner corners 5a which are spaced apart by a distance greater than the width of the opening to the recess, means are provided comprising a pair of plates 11 adapted to be mounted at opposite sides of the door 6 in a position to cover the recess 5, the plates being interconnectable by screws 13 passing through bosses 12a carried by the plates and adapted to fit within the corners 5a of the recess to prevent movement of the plates in a plane parallel to the plane of the door, and interengageable means on the plates 11 and the body 7 of the fastening, for example bosses 12b carried by the plates engageable with complementary recesses in the body, for preventing movement of the latter relative to the plates. Located against movement within a shallow recess in each plate 11 is a synthetic plastic insert 12, e.g. of nylon, the insert incorporating the bosses 12a and 12b and having a recess 12c for receiving a boss 9 extending from the adjacent side of the body 7, each boss 9 incorporating key-operable means for operating the bolt 10 of the fastening. Each plate 11 is extended to form a handle 11a and packings of rubber and fibre, for example, may be respectively provided between the plates 11 and the body 7 of the fastening and between the plates 11 and the glass door. A keeper having a body 15 is similarly mounted in an adjacent glass door or surround.
