Abstract

755,349. Fibre drafting mechanism. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd., and RAPER, G. F April 4, 1955 [April 15, 1954], No. 11244/54. Classes 120 (1) and 120 (2). Fibre drafting mechanism comprises in combination draft regulating means controlled from a detector sensitive to variations of thickness of an input sliver and a conductor that constricts the sliver in the drafting field to less than its natural crosssectional area. The mechanism for detecting irregularities and regulating draft is preferably that described in Specification 711,501. Retaining rollers 10, 11 operate as detecting rollers and the movements of roller 11 under the influence of sliver irregularities are transmitted through levers 16, 17 to apparatus regulating the speed of roller 10. Between the retaining rollers 10, 11 and drafting rollers 12, 13 is located the conductor C that may take any of the forms described in Specifications 729,631 and 738,462. Specifications 656,135 and 710,957 are referred to in the Provisional Specification. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 656,135, 729,631and 738,462.
