Abstract

<PICT:0754435/IV(a)/1> A warp-spinning machine comprises a series of spinning heads, godets and guide means for forming a warp all located on an upper storey, aftertreatment baths located vertically beneath on a lower storey, and means located at one end of the machine for transferring the warp from the upper to the lower storey. The threads may be stretched on either the upper or the lower storey. After leaving the after-treatment baths the threads may be collected whilst still wet in spinning boxes, or as tow, or as staple fibre, or dried and collected untwisted either on individual bobbins or on a warp beam, or twisted and collected individually. As shown, a series of freshly spun viscose threads are drawn off by godets 10 and pass over guides 11 and comb guides 14, 15 to form a warp 2. The warp passes round traction rollers 16 and a guider roller 17 on the lower storey, then through a series of treating baths 18-21, wherein the threads are kept submerged by guides 28, and through a drier 22, the warp being forwarded by traction rollers 23-27. The liquid treating baths may be dilute acid, water, bleaching liquid and finally water.
