Abstract
752,478. Moulding chocolate. AASTED, K. C. S. March 24, 1954 [May 5. 1953], No. 8569/54. Class 87(2) In moulding hollow chocolate. objects such as Easter eggs in a chocolate moulding plant, the objects are formed in two part moulds fed one after the other. The fin left projecting from the half-moulds when they are inverted and shaken to remove the excess chocolate are trimmedafter cooling - then heated to soften them, the two moulded halves being then joined to form the completed egg As shown, mould halves 3, 8 are filled from a container 31 and are then inverted and pass over a vibrating table 35 the excess chocolate passing through a hole in its centre and being removed back to container 31. The chocolate shell now passes through a cooling chamber 37 after which the projecting fin 38 is cut by a knife 43 so as to project only 1mm. The projecting edge 44 is then softened by hot air from nozzles 52 after which a pin 11 engages ari arm 12 causing a spring 9 to close the mould halves 3, 8 to form the completed egg. A pin 55 then opens the mould halves and the eggs are ejected on to a conveyer.
