Abstract
752,216. Combs; hair slides. NEWEY BROS., Ltd. Oct. 13, 1954 [Jan. 11, 1954], No. 699/54. Class 131. [Also in Group XXV] A ring comb for hair is formed by two partrings 10, 11 hinged together at one end of each and at the other end latched together by cooperating teeth which are released by urging those ends apart by a relative movement in a radial direction with respect to the centre of the ring and includes means for preventing relative movement in a direction parallel to the axis of the ring. As shown the free end of each partring is formed with two teeth 14, 15 and 16, 17 and each pair of teeth is staggered circumferentially to prevent the movement parallel to the ring axis. The teeth are formed by notching each end of the ring and lateral displacement in one direction is prevented by the inside face of tooth 17 abutting against a face 19 at the rear of the notch which receives the tooth 16. Lateral displacement in the other direction is prevented by the abutment of the inner face of the tooth 14 against a face (not shown) at the rear of the notch which receives the tooth 15. The latch is disengaged by pressing the part ring 10 inwardly and a projection 21 is provided on its outer face at the position where pressure should be applied. In a modification there may be only one pair of co-operating teeth extending for part of the width of the part-rings 10,11 the other pair of teeth being replaced by complementary stepped ledges of which the part remote from the free end of each part-ring projects beyond the notch of the teeth on that member.
