Abstract
750,946. Making sliding-clasp fasteners. WALDES KOH-I-NOOR, Inc. Jan. 25, 1954. No. 2174/54. Class 83.(2). A machine for use in the manufacture of sliding clasp fasteners comprises a device for applying end stops and a mechanism for assembling the slider and stringers preparatory to the application of the end stop, the mechanism comprising means for clamping the slider in position to facilitate assembly of the stringers to an anvil of the end stop device, a projection on the anvil enabling the assembled end to be correctly positioned. In the first embodiment, Figs. 2 and 5, two jaws 25 and 26 are supported between side walls 21 and 22 integral with a collar 20 secured to the base of the anvil 15. Jaw 26 is movable about pivot 27 and grips the pull tab 32 allowing the bail of the slider to enter a recess 30. The jaws .are released by means of handle 43 working cam 42 against the pressure of spring 28. In the second embodiment, Fig. 11, the pull tab 53 is held by the push rod 56. To release the slider, the lever 67 and cam 66 raise the conical portion 64 against the pressure of spring 59 and allow the push rod to withdraw under the action of spring 59.
