749,418. Transformers. McGRAW ELECTRIC CO. Aug. 9, 1954 [April 12, 1954], No. 23101/54. Class 38 (2). A magnetic core such as a transformer core comprises two inner adjacent loops D, E wound from magnetic strip material 40, 401 respectively which are enclosed by a third loop F wound from magnetic strip material, the construction being characterized in that the strip from which the outer loop F is formed is continuous with the strips from which the inner loops D, E are formed. Thus the fluxes in the magnetic paths may use the whole of the iron available without the necessity of passing perpendicularly to the laminations. The strips may be continuous and of one width or they may be jointed and of varying widths in which latter case the cross-sections will be of a cruciform shape.
