Abstract
748,451. Hypodermic needles. LONGLEY, E. O. Dec. 1, 1953 [Dec. 1, 1952], No. 15596/52. Addition to 709,714. Class 81(2). The incisive tip of the needle of the parent Specification is hollow-ground so as to have slight concavity for approximately its length. The needle shown comprises a bored cylindrical shaft 1 the incisive edges from the ultimate tip to the point of inflexion Q-Q being constituted by the lines of intersection of the twin surfaces 5, 6, and the hollow-ground bevelled surface 3. Beyond Q-Q this bevelled surface sweeps backwards with convex curvature 4 to merge with the shaft. In a further embodiment the needle shaft is of tubing of hexagonal drawnsection the surfaces 5, 6, being two contiguous faces of its six external faces. Tubing of oval section may also be employed.
