Abstract

746,693. Winding yarn. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Feb. 4, 1954 [Feb. 4, 1953], No. 3330/54. Class 120 (2). A mandrel for rotatably mounting a yarn package support 11, comprises gripping means, e.g. resilient knurled fingers 32, mounted for rotation and urged by the cam-portion 36 of a spring-influenced cap 38 into gripping engagement with the support 11, and holding means, e.g. pivoted levers 56 the ends 49 of which engage a recess in the cap while the ends 57 are supported upon the hub 18 of a spring-urged member 17, maintaining the cap 38 in the inoperative position, the holding means being released by pushing a support 11 against a collar 21 on the member 17 to compress the spring 22, release the ends 57 of the levers 56 and allow the cap 38 to move outwardly and the cam portion 36 to expand the fingers 32. A cover 23 limits the movement of the member 17 and the compression of the spring 22. A manually-operated lever 64 governs a spring-urged brake disc 58.
