746,694. Winding yarn. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Feb. 4, 1954 [Feb. 4, 1953], No. 3331/54. Class 120 (2). A mandrel for rotatably mounting a yarn package support 11 comprises gripping means, e.g. knurled fingers 27 attached to a skirted barrel 12 rotating on ball bearings 14, 16 on an arbor 13, the fingers 27 being urged outwardly to grip the package support 11 by cam surfaces 31 on a cap 33 slidable on the barrel 12 and urged outwards by a spring 36, when a spring- urged press-button 52 is manually operated to permit a detent ball 46 to escape from a groove 47 in a post 48 attached to the barrel 12 into a groove 58 on the inner side of the button 52.
