Abstract
746,399. Radial cylinder engines; valves. MORISSETTE, P. R. Jan. 12, 1954, No.- 850/54. Classes 7(2) and 7(6) In the radial cylinder engine shown the intake and exhaust valves 13, 14 of the outer cylinders 6, 8 are arranged at the inner sides of the cylinders while the intake and exhaust valves 15, 16 of the cylinders 7 are arranged alternately on opposite sides of these cylinders. An. intake manifold 17 interconnects the intake valve ports of the cylinders of each outer bank with the intake valve ports of the middle bank. Similar exhaust manifolds 18 are provided. The intake manifold 17 and exhaust manifold 18 are preferably integral. The angle between the outer cylinders 6, 8 is preferably 130 degrees it may be 120 degrees or as much as 150 de-- grees. It is stated that the engine may comprise 6, 9, 12 or more cylinders. It is stated that the engine lends itself advantageously to long stroke-small bore cylin,- der design.
