Abstract
746,005. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON:HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 26, 1954 [April 24, 1953], No. 12014/54. Class 35. In a rotor, a stack of superimposed conductors all have radial fluid inlet passages spaced a short distance from one side of each slot and communicating with one or both ends of the rotor, radial outlet passages spaced a short distance from the opposite side of each slot and communicating with the rotor periphery, the passages being located at intervals along the slots and being interconnected by cross-passages through individual conductors. As shown in Fig. 1, air or gas from a sub-slot 13 passes through channels 5, then obliquely across by channels 7 to passages 6 from which it flows out to the air gap by passages 20 in the slot wedges or into outlet ducts 19 formed in the teeth. The conductors can be in pairs 3, 4 with recess to form channels 7, as shown in Fig. 1, and the passages 5, 6, 7 may be located along each conductor as shown in Fig. 5.
