Abstract

745,271. Door-operating appliances. NEWMAN & SONS, Ltd., W., and SHEAD, H. C. Oct. 1, 1954 [Oct. 2, 1953], No. 27020/53. Class 65 (1). Springs; checks.-The slide 8 of a floor-spring, acted on by a cam 7 on the door spindle 4 to compress a spring 10, is guided by the spindle 4, which fits in slots 14, 15 in upper and lower limbs of the slide; in the form shown, the slots are open-ended and are closed by a sheet-metal cap 23. The other end of the slide, carrying an adjustable screw collar 11 to engage the spring, is guided by sliding on a plunger 24 which is pivoted to the casing 1 and co-operates with a bore in the slide to form a fluid check; the slide has an inlet passage 25 with a ball-valve and the plunger has a valve-controlled outlet passage 26 and a spring-loaded relief valve 27.
