Abstract
745,043. High frequency electric heating. GARRINGTONS, Ltd. Dec. 23, 1952 [Sept. 28, 1951], No. 22649/51. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XII] Apparatus adapted to heat a number of similar articles in succession, such as round metal bars from which gas turbine or compressor blades are formed, comprises a rotary conveyer table 10 formed with receptacles for the bars 26, a superposed field coil structure 11 defining an annular heating zone, a supporting framework 12 accommodating a drive mechanism 13, and release means 14 arranged to free the bars for gravitational discharge at a discharge station 15. The field coil structure 11 comprises skatetype windings forming an inner and outer series of conductors 34 and 35 defining the annular beating zone and connected at the entrance end 36 by bridging conductors 37. The field structure is supported by bars 39 dependant from screwed rods 40 carried by pillars 41 forming part of the framework 12. The top member 16 of the table conveyer may be made of aluminium to shield the parts below it from the induction heating field. Where the articles are non-conductors of electricity the heating zone may comprise a high frequency electric field set up by electrodes. Specification 743,974 is referred to.
