Abstract

A disinfecting washing powder comprises a mixture of a detergent in powdered form and sodium carbonate in a proportion of 10 to 50 per cent with 0.02 to 0.10 per cent of a halogenated 2.21-dihydroxydiphenylmethane or a salt thereof. The detergents may comprise fatty acid or resin acid soaps, synthetic anionic detergents such as organic sulphonates and sulphated alcohol salts, cationic detergents, and synthetic non-ionic detergents such as polyglycol esters and polyglycol ethers. Optional additions to the compositions may comprise percompounds such as perborates, persulphates, peroxides, perphosphates and persulphonates, bicarbonates, sodium sulphate, sodium chloride, phosphates and silicates, cellulose ethers and cellulose glycollates.
